The November edition of pcPolyzine features polymer clay artist, Tanya Mayorova!

Tanya Mayorova is a master polymer clay artist from Russia. By trade, she is a lawyer, but enjoys working with polymer clay in various ways.

We wanted to learn more about Tanya and here's what she shared with us:

pcPolyzine: How did you get into polymer clay?
Tanya: I got into the sphere of modeling by accident from another type of creativity. While on maternity leave, I saw works made of polymer clay and wanted to try sculpting.

pcPolyzine: How long have you been working with polymer clay?
Tanya: I have been working with polymer clay for about 11 years.

pcPolyzine: How do you come up with an idea for a project  do you plan it or just start working?
Tanya: I have no plan or goals, everything happens spontaneously. As a rule, there is a beacon, a blurred idea, which gradually becomes overgrown with details as you work.

pcPolyzine: What inspires you to create pieces in polymer clay?
Tanya: Natural inspiration: nature, the sea, mountains, and forests. Also, textures and colors inspire me. Although less often, form and music had been known to inspire me.

pcPolyzine: What's your favorite piece or project you've made in polymer clay?
Tanya: At the moment my favorite series if of flowers and fruit, made in black and white with red accents. I rarely work in this style and did not think it would be so passionate and interesting to study.

pcPolyzine: Does your work have a theme or message?
Tanya: No, my works do not carry a semantic meaning. It is just a combination of form, color, and texture. Only love, love for modeling and creativity.

pcPolyzine: What are your favorite (or most important) tools you use when working with clay?
Tanya: My favorite tools are texture sheets, very sharp blades, an extruder, and fine needles.

pcPolyzine: Do you have any advice for new artists to polymer clay?
Tanya: My advice is not to be afraid. Polymer clay is just polymer clay. It is all simpler than many people perceive.

pcPolyzine: Any final thoughts for our readers?
Tanya: Do what you love!

pcPolyzine: Tanya, your work is gorgeous. We are excited to share your work with the pcPolyzine community. Thank you for taking time to share with us!
